The launch of the identity has you reading these words today; simply because we want to tell you that we have launched our new visual identity, desiring to keep pace with the development and growth we experience every day.
We were - and still are - in love with our old logo, which, like anything else we love, is subject to development.
Salla, the Future of E-Commerce: An Easy Platform to Start Your Business
Perhaps you are wondering why we changed our visual identity then?
Launching the identity when the company started in 2016
It chose for itself the previous logo, which we all loved; it was nice, cheerful, shaking hands with merchants with a broad smile and eyes deep with joy. It was a beloved, human-centric logo, but it wasn't the best one.

The past six years have been full of turning points and challenges that built the company's name and placed it in a position to look to the future and think of solutions for it. There is another, more convincing reason: our merchant today is an ambitious merchant who needs an ambitious, up-to-date company behind them that cares about representing their ambitions on all levels, from individual merchants to major global brands with hundreds of branches. Our old logo might not have been the best logo to reflect this direction and ambition.
Over two years we developed many versions of visual logos, and every time we faced the challenge of simplicity (making the logo easier to use at all levels); because at Salla, we believe in simplicity as a governing principle for all operations, and this is what distinguishes our products.
One of the biggest issues with our previous logo was the difficulty of applying it to different visual media, and the limitations of featuring it on different color backgrounds; because it contains a number of colors and their different shades, maintaining color contrast while ensuring readability at the same time is not an easy task.

It was easy to misread our previous logo, as the eyes and the smile produced a smiling face, which—despite its cuteness—could be read as an emoji. Cuteness, while a nice trait, is not always synonymous with professionalism. Furthermore, the square shape with soft edges highly resembled an app icon, which could make it difficult to form a correct perception of the company's market size and the diversity of its solutions and services. We are not just an application, we are the largest Saudi platform, and here is the most important information about e-commerce in the Middle East!
So the first step was to strip away the elements that reinforced the incorrect positioning of the brand and delayed forming a correct understanding of it. We unified the logo's color, making it contrastable on both light and dark backgrounds, and removed the eyes while keeping the smile (the basket handle) to add a human touch to the logo. Most importantly, we created a system of marks and icons from the same logo to be applied to all products of the visual brand and sales and marketing management; to maintain a unified level of harmony and consistency among the elements of the visual identity across all of its touchpoints and interactions!

Salla is a company that cares about its digital product and believes it has a strong product, simply because it thinks about its products within a framework of solid values. At Salla, we believe that authenticity, innovation, simplicity, and prioritizing the human element to build a successful marketing strategy are the four pillars upon which the thinking process for all our e-commerce solutions is founded, and these values must also be taken into consideration when developing our visual identity.
Over the coming months, you will see this logo a lot around you, on the main website, on social media platforms, in advertisements, and in print. We are still the Salla you know, and we will always remain so, but with a more consistent and prominent visual look!
